Scars: by Chase Gagnon and Pamela A. Babusci

winter rain
streaking the frosted

I gently trace
the scars on my wrist

i live

with the constant reminder

that you almost

drained your marrow

to stop the gnawing pain

chisels the marble moon

into a talon

...if only I could go back

and learn to fly

even with steel wings

of the swiftest bird

you can never escape

the wounds within your heart

that long for healing

and weightless

before the starry horizon

...I jump from the edge of earth

and soar
